Kaleidoscopic View of the College

 

Established in 1969, founded by the then Chief Minister of Punjab, Justice Gurnam Singh Ji, college has to its credit the rich legacy of imparting quality education to the girls of Punjab for more than five decades. At present, the college is catering to the scholastic needs of the larger community by offering 17 Postgraduate, 9 Undergraduate and 8 Vocational Diplomas and 12 Add-On Courses.

  • The college has imposing high-tech four-storeyed Science and Fashion Designing Blocks, a four storeyed Auditorium Block housing the Commerce, Management, Computer Science, Humanities and PGDMC faculties; a two- storeyed block for IGNOU Study Centre and a four storeyed Cafeteria building comprising of Fine Arts and Music Labs and a three storeyed Fashion Designing and Cosmetology block.
  • All classrooms have been equipped with smart interactive boards and slide projectors.
  • The College takes pride in its state-of-the-art Auditorium, an air-conditioned Guest Room, air conditioned Luncheon Hall and an air-cooled Reading Hall.
  • The college infrastructure is bedecked with a 200 seated centrally air-conditioned Conference Hall. The hall has a digital bidirectional conference system with full HD projectors.
  • 171 Class rooms, 50 Science Labs, 15 Fashion Designing Labs, 3 Cosmetology Labs, 9 Computer Labs. 2 Music Labs, a Dance Lab, a Fine Arts Lab, Museums of Botany and Zoology, 4 Generators of 200 KW, 160 KW, 160 KW and 82 KW capacity are other assets of the college.
  • The College offers computerized Library to catalogue and track the circulation of more than 31366 books, 32 plus Magazines, and 12 Newspapers alongwith an additional membership of Inflib N-List that provides quality e-content and e-resources to satiate the intellectual urge of the learners.
  • A modern Hostel that accommodates 600 students and provides air condition facility to approximately 120 students equipped with 121 rooms, 4 Reading Halls, 3 Recreation Halls, air-cooled Dining Hall, Cafeteria and modern stylish washrooms.
  • 9 multimedia labs are equipped with LCD projectors, high gain screens and computers.
  • A hi-tech air-conditioned server room with 6 servers, LAN, Domain Controller, Additional Domain Controller, LINUX Proxy Server, Anti-Virus Admin Console and 219 plus computers in all working round the clock for monitoring and managing all the routine activities including intra-hall and intra-net facilities with a view to implement the concept of corporate sector and paperless office work.
  • The college runs IGNOU Study Centre-2206 offering 270 courses. It is the only centre in the Punjab Region marked to have an EDUSAT installed for teleconference.
  • Nitika of MA II-English made us proud by winning the august GOLD MEDAL in 37th Inter University National Youth Festival held at PAU, Ludhiana after clinching GOLD MEDAL in State Level & a BRONZE MEDAL in North Zone Inter University Youth Festival whereas our talented students clinched 46 Prizes in PU Zonal & Inter Zonal Youth & Heritage Festival for the Session 2023-2024.
  • In an inter college event EHSAAS 2023 organized by PCTE, Baddowal our students made us extremely proud by clinching OVERALL TROPHY by winning various prizes in different competitions.
  • Our talented students added another feather in the cap by acquiring the coveted 26 Prizes in different competitions in an inter college event HUNAR 2K24 organized by Khalsa Institute of Management and Technology for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana.
  • Our college students clinched Runners-Up Trophy by grabbing numerous prizes in Prof. Gurbir Singh Sarna Memorial Inter College Competition held at GNIMT, Ludhiana.
  • Our meritorious students proved their mettle in academics by clinching 92 Top Ten University Positions in the Semester Examinations conducted by Panjab University.
  • The Annual Fashion Fiesta- Fashion Flora ’24 was held on 16th March, 2024 in the college premises to provide the budding designers with a platform to showcase their beautifully designed attires. An iconic personality Mrs. Tinnie Grewal, Member, Dean’s Advisory Board, University of California, Irvine presided over the function.
  • Annual Alumni Meet was organized on 18th April, 2024 wherein 70 old students were honoured by the Chief Guest S. Gurbir Singh, President GNET for carving a niche for themselves in professional arena.
  • The Convocation for the session 2022-2023 was held on 19th April, 2024 in which Mr. Amandeep Grewal, Deputy Head of Mission at British Deputy High Commission in Chandigarh conferred degrees on 134 Post Graduate and 313 Under Graduate students. In addition, 7 students were felicitated with Roll of Honour and 27 students were awarded College Colour in Academic and co-curricular activities whereas 81 students were awarded with Certificate of Merit and 75 students were honoured for their dutiful and dextrous efforts as members of the Student Council.
