To seek the blessing of Almighty God at the commencement of new Academic Session, Akhand Path of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was organised with religious piety and devoutness from 1st– 3rd August, 2023.

As a tribute to Dr. Radha Krishnan, a highly renowned and revered teacher, the students and staff celebrated his birthday as Teacher’s Day on 5th September, 2023 with ebullience and exuberance.

Medley of charm, poise and elegance was the leitmotif of the welcome functions held on 20th, 21st and 22nd September, 2023 to greet the new members of the GNGC family. Ms. Fresher’s Contest was hallmark of the shows and the audience was enthused to witness dazzling dances, sparkling attires and witty answers. Upasana of MA (English)-I clinched the title of Ms. Fresher, Jasleen Kaur of B.Sc. (FD)-I and Mukti Sood of B.Sc. (FD)-I were the First and Second Runner’s up respectively from faculties of Arts, Fashion Designing and FD Diploma. Whereas from UG and PG Faculties of Science (Medical, Non-Medical, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics) Namanpreet (B.Sc,) (Biotech) – I clinched the title of Ms. Fresher, Gyata (B.Sc,) (NM) – I and Purvi (B.Sc.) (Biotech) – I were the First and Second Runner’s up respectively. In Computer Science, Commerce and Management Fresher’s Party Nitasha M.Sc. (IT)-I was adjudged as Ms. Fresher, Bhawna (B.Com)-I and Harmeet (BBA)-I were the First and Second Runner’s up respectively. Dr. Charanjit K. Mahal. Director GNGC and GNCH congratulated the winners and inspired them to inculcate a clear vision and positive approach in life.

Gaiety and traditional fervour marked the Teej festival organised in the college on 26th August, 2023. The glorious culture of Punjab came to life as the girls dressed in colourful ethnic outfits and various antique items like Bagh, Phulkari, Charkha, Pakhis, Chhaj and Daris were put on display in different stalls. The spirit of Teej Wafted across the campus and enthused students showcased their skills in stage events such as Ms. Panjaban, Giddha etc. Apart from that, offstage events such as Mehndi Application, Nail Art and Hair Styling (Middian Gundana) won huge appreciation from the audience. Balreet Kaur of B.Sc. (FD)-II clinched the title of Ms. Panjaban amidst loud cheers. Amanjot Kaur of BBA-lll and Khushpinder of B.Sc.(Medical)-lll were adjudged First and Second Runner’s up respectively. In Giddha Competition Arts Faculty secured First position whereas Second and Third Position were secured by Commerce and Science Faculties respectively. In Mehndi competition Neha (B.Sc. FD)-III, Parvati (B.Com-I) and Mauli (B.Com-II) won First, Second and Third prize respectively. In Hair Styling Competition Amritpal Kaur M.Sc.(IT)-I won First prize, Barinder (BBA-III) won second and Jasimran (B.Sc. Biotech.) won Third Prize. Also, in Nail Art Competition Jividha (BCA-III), Amanpreet (Beauty and Culture) and Khushpinder Kaur (B.Sc. Medical-III) clinched First, Second and Third prize respectively. Dr. Charanjit K. Mahal, Director GNGC and GNCH felicitated the winners and inspired the students to upkeep and preserve traditional values and cultural heritage of Punjab.

The Prakash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated amidst piety and devoutness from 22nd- 24th November, 2023. Dr. Charanjit K. Mahal, Director GNGC urged the students to follow the teachings of Baba Nanak in true spirits in deeds and actions in their day to day life. Following the old tradition of community kitchen, ‘Guru Ka Langar’ was served with great respect and zeal.

The Campus of GNGC dazzled with myriad hues as the Annual Fashion Event ‘Fashion Flora 24’ was celebrated on 16th March, 2024. The mega event witnessed the amalgamation of talent and beauty. The students of the Department of Fashion Designing sashayed the ramp with pride and their self designed dresses. The colourful range of dresses included both traditional and ethnic wear and dresses designed out of unusual material were showcased in 32 rounds. The Chief Guest of the day Mrs. Tinnie Grewal, Member, Dean’s Advisory Board, Claire Trevor School of the Arts, University of California, Irvine (USA) appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged the young minds to explore their innovative capabilities.

The students of PG & UG Faculties of Fashion Designing, Humanities & Science were bidden adieu by their juniors on 10th April, 2024 & students of PG & UG faculties of Management, Commerce & Computer Science were bidden adieu by their juniors on 12th April, 2024. S. Gurbir Singh, President, Guru Nanak Education Trust and Director Dr. (Mrs.) Charanjit Mahal and Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Rakhi Malhotra presided over the function. An entertaining cultural extravaganza presented by the junior students added special hues to the event. The main attraction of the function was the modeling by students of the final year dressed in trendy clothes, as they walked down the ramp with rhythmic music in the background. In an emotion charged event, all shared their fond reminiscences about the days spent together in the college.

Annual Old Student Meet of the Alumni Association of Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, Ludhiana was held on 18th April, 2024. S. Gurbir Singh, President Guru Nanak Education Trust was the Chief Guest on the occasion. S. Gurbir Singh applauded the efforts put in by Dr. (Mrs.) Charanjit Mahal (Director), Dr. (Mrs.) Rakhi Malhotra, Principal and faculty for converting the vulnerable girl students into cosmopolitan women who are not only modern but are also connected to their roots. He went on to say that all should join hands together in extending education to women, so that they can lead an empowered and independent life.

Annual Convocation of Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, Ludhiana was held on 19th April, 2024. Mr. Gurbir Singh, President, Guru Nanak Education Trust, Ludhiana was the Chief Guest of the day. Mr. Amandeep Grewal (DHM, British High Commission, Chandigarh) was the Guest of Honour. The function commenced by taking the blessings of Lord Almighty wherein the students recited shabad “Dehe Shiva Var Mohe”. Degrees were conferred on 447 students including 313 Graduates from the disciplines of BA, B.Sc., B.Sc.(Hons)Biotech, B.Sc.(Hons.) Bioinfo., B.Com, BCA, B.Sc. (FD) and BBA and 134 Post-Graduates. Roll of honour was also awarded to 7 students and 27 students were given College Colour. 71 Student Council Executive were also honoured and 80 Merit Certificate were awarded to the outstanding students.
