Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, Ludhiana celebrated the much awaited festival of harvest, warmth and togetherness i.e. Lohri on 13.01.2025 (Monday) that signifies fertility, prosperity and triumph of hard work. Dr. (Mrs.) Charanjit Mahal, Director, GNGC & GNCH addressed the students and familiarized them about the cultural and social significance of festival Lohri and motivated them never to bow down against the negativities like Punjabi Hero ‘Dulla Bhatti’ who rescued girls from being sold into slavery during the times of Mughal Emperor Akbar. Even the songs sung during Lohri often recount his acts of bravery and kindness. College Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Rakhi Malhotra, appreciated the zeal and vigour of the students and staff in celebrating the festival. A cultural extravaganza was organized wherein students sang traditional songs, performed dances & presented Punjabi Folk Dance-Giddha with great enthusiasm. All the students of the college danced around the bonfire during the DJ party.
