CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Co-curricular activities prove instrumental in developing the over-all personality of the students. The students are encouraged to participate with fervour and zeal in these activities. The indulgence of college students in multifarious co-curricular activities has eventualized into a whopping 80+ prizes in the various categories.

  • Our dexterous student Kajal Khanna of M.Sc (FD) is awarded with “Certificate of Appreciation” by Ministry of Human Resource Development (Department of Higher Education), Govt. of India for excellent academic performance. She was the only one to be selected from Ludhiana to witness the Republic Day Parade 2015 at the Majestic Rajpath alongwith Prime Minister Narender Modi and US President Barack Obama. It is indeed a Red Letter Day in the history of GNGC, when she got an opportunity to interact with other dignitaries like Retd. IPS Kiran Bedi and HR Minister Smriti Irani.
  • Our exceptionally talented student Jyoti Malik from M.A (Political Science) has surpassed her physical limitation of being blind by successfully running an online radio station “Radio Udaan” from her home. She is holding the post of the Programme Manager and a Radio Jockey, imparting educative programmes. She is one among the 20 blind RJs who were selected for National Convention of this radio station at Delhi on 31st January, 2015.
  • Two students of our college participated in Youth Leadership Training, Hiking –Trekking and Rock Climbing Camps organized by the Department of Youth Welfare, Panjab University, Chandigarh from 5th -12th July, 2014 at Guru Nanak Dev University Students’ Holiday Home, Dalhousie (HP).
  • Navdeep Kaur of M.Sc. (Chemistry) won Third position in Ludhiana District in Moral Education Exam conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle on 31st October,2014. She was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1000 alongwith a Memento and a set of books.
  • Our students Jaspreet Kaur(BA-II), Harsangeet Kaur(B.Sc-II), Sarika(BA-III), Iti(BAII),Swati(MBE),Baljinder Kaur(BA-III) and Ashwjit Kaur(B.Sc-II) grabbed the coveted first position in the category of Poster Making, Photography, Rangoli, Mehndi Designing and Application, Flower Arrangement and Extempore respectively. Manpreet Kaur(BA-III), Gurpreet Kaur(BAIII) and Gurbir Kaur(BA-II) clinched second position in Poster and Collage Making competitions held at Bhutta College of Engineering and Technology, Ludhiana on 12th November, 2014.
  • Harpreet Kaur of MA-II (Sociology) won Second Prize in Essay Writing Competition held at Guru Teg Bahadur National College, Dakha on 22nd November, 2014.
  • Students Ravneet Kaur (BA-II), Prabhjot Kaur (BCA-II) and Rajvir Kaur (BA-III) bagged Second Position in a Quiz Competition held at Guru Teg Bahadur National College Dakha on 24th November, 2014.
  • The Voters’ Day was celebrated at Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana on 25th January,2015 wherein our two talented students Jaspreet Kaur (B.A.II) and Ashwjit Kaur (B.Sc.II) bagged Third position each in the Poster Making Competition and Declamation Contest respectively.
  • Kanika Chaudhary (BA-II) clinched third prize in K. K. Grover Memorial Declamation Contest organized by Department of Hindi of Panjab University, Chandigarh held at Gandhi Bhawan, PU, Chandigarh on 19th February, 2015.
  • Our outstanding orator Kanika Chaudhary (BA-II) captured the august First position alongwith a cash prize of Rs.3000/- in Declamation Contest held at Central University of Punjab, Bathinda on 23rd February, 2015.
  • K.K Grover Memorial Goodwill Declamation Contest was held at Gandhi Bhawan, Panjab University, Chandigarh on 25th February, 2015. Wherein our orator Ashwjit Kaur (B.Sc-II) clinched second prize.
  • M.S. Randhawa Flower Show was organized by Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, PAU, Ludhiana on 25th and 26th February, 2015 in which our college bagged First Position in the category of Flowers grown in Pots ‘Dahlia’.
  • Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized Youth Festival- Pargaas, The Enlightenment on 27th and 28th February, 2015 wherein our praiseworthy artists Swati (MBE) and Jaspreet Kaur (BA-II) clinched the coveted First position each in Mehandi Designing and Poster Making Competition. College Quiz Team comprising of Nimar Iqbal Kaur (MA-I Pol.Sc), Ravneet Kaur (BA-II) and Preet Simran Kaur (B.Sc-I) bagged second position and Gurbir Kaur (BA-II) won second prize in Face Painting Category. College Group Shabad Team got third position in Shabad Gayan category and Ashwjit kaur (B.Sc-II) and Prabhjot Kaur (MA-II Sociology) captured Third position in the Extempore and Poetry Writing competitions respectively. Two students from (B.Sc-II Biotechnology) presented a Model on Cancer Immunology at Science Mania.
  • Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana organized an environmental event on 8th March,2015 wherein in Flower Show and various Painting competitions our college bagged 7 prizes in Flower Show and Manpreet Kaur (BA-III) bagged the First position and Iti Pathak (BA-II) clinched Second prize in Painting Competition.
  • Punjabi Sahitya Academy celebrated International ‘Maat Bhasha Divas’ at Punjabi Bhawan Ludhiana on 11th March, 2015 wherein our students of MA-II (Punjabi) brought home the coveted 1st Prize in Quiz competition and Manpreet Kaur (BA-III) bagged the First Position in Punjabi Kavita Poster competition.
  • At Annual Convocation of Panjab University, Chandigarh on 14th March, 2015 our orator Harshpreet Kaur was rewarded with Certificate of Appreciation and cash prize of Rs. 2000/-.
