51^st ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET

On 7^th March, 2026 students of Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, Ludhiana presented a colorful start on the occasion of Annual Athletic Meet. S. Ishwarjot Singh Cheema, Incharge of Halka South, Ludhiana and Secretary Guru Education Trust, Model Town, Ludhiana was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Mr. Kuldeep Chugh, DSO, Ludhiana was the Guest of honour of one day meet in which students of all streams participated with enthusiasm and great zeal. Dr. (Mrs.) Charanjit Mahal, Director, GNGC, GNCH & GNIFD welcomed the Guests and briefed the noteworthy contributions of the college players at the National and International level. She said educated women could play an important role in the development of the country. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Rakhi Malhotra said that sports are an integral part of healthy life as they improve physical and mental health, and help build resilience and confidence. Prof. (Retd.) Dr. S.S.Mahal, Member Guru Nanak Education Trust & Director Mahal Multispecialty Hospital, Ludhiana also graced the occasion. The meet began with a March Past in which students of Graduate and Post-Graduate classes participated. Ms. Sandeep Pal of BA-III, Softball Player of the college took the oath. Chief Guest hoisted the College flag and declared the meet open. Colorful balloons were let off into the air to mark the opening of the sports meet. Several sports events including 400 Mtrs., 800 Mtrs. Javelin Throw, 1500 Mtrs. Short-put , High Jump, 200 Mtrs., Skipping race, Discus Throw, Long Jump, Kangaroo Race, Tug-of-War, Sack Race, Potato Spoon Race, Three legged race, Clerical staff race (Musical Chairs), Couple Hobble, Skipping on the spot, 4x100mts. Relay race, Obstacle race, Staff race, Class 1V employees race and Guest event were main source of attraction. Ms. Nishu (MA(Punjabi)2^nd year was declared the best athlete.  The college students presented the traditional Folk Dance, Giddha. Chief Guest S. Ishwarjot Singh Cheema emphasized that sports is a field where girls can learn goal-setting, strategic thinking and the pursuit of excellence in performance and career oriented approach. Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Rakhi Malhotra, proposed the vote of thanks.
